History

Description about the text: 

The feature article tells about a history of chess that began in the 7th century. Originally, the game was known as chaturanga, which is a Sanskrit word. But when it was spread to Persia, the name changed “chess” derived from “shah.” After that, chess spread to countries in the world. 

Comment about the text: 

I like this feature article because it can give people information about the history of chess, especially people who do not know before.

Something new: 

From this feature article, I learned new vocabulary such as infantry (infanteri), cavalry (pasukan), flank (mengapit), benchmark (tolak ukur), grieving (berduka cita), conquest (penaklukan), and ingenuity (kecerdasan). Also, I learned about the history of chess that I have never known before. 

Seasonal

-Title: 5 THINGS TO DO in TORONTO this WINTER!

Description about the text: 

The feature article tells about things to do during the winter in Toronto. People can go ice-skating in the Bent way Skate Trail and also in Ontario. In the evening, people can come to the Toronto light festival. Fat biking at Evergreen Brick Works and going to Toronto Island. 

Comment about the text: 

I think this feature article is good especially for people who would like to visit Toronto during the winter. 

Something new: 

From this feature article, I learned new vocabulary such as rink (gelanggang es), bonfire (api unggun), distillery (tempat penyulingan), infuse (menanamkan), and excursion (darmawisata). Also, I know about what activities to do during winter in Toronto. 

Human Interest

Description about the text: 

The feature article tells about the complex relationship between stress and memory. Also, about how short-term stress impacts memory for facts. Memory works with three main steps, those are acquisition, consolidation, and retrieval. Actually, moderate stress can help experiences enter human memory. But chronic stress can have the opposite effect.

Comment about the text: 

I like this feature article because it contains good information to people about stress and memory. Also, about what people can do to turn stress and stay calm when it matters the most.

Something new: 

From this feature article, I learned new vocabulary such as retrieval (pengambilan), prompt (mendorong), injecting (menyuntikkan), inhibition (hambatan), and novelty (hal baru). In addition, I learned about how stress can impact memory, how memory works, what is ataraxia, and what to do to turn stress.
